Boitalak is a member of the branch of the Kha tribe located in the northern Fanged Crescent. From a young age, she was inspired by the culinary prowess of her people, and began cooking in many eateries around the Crescent. However, her lackadaisical outlook on life prevented her from reaching true renown, as she was unable to apply herself. A chance encounter with a party of Crescent emigrants returned to their homeland led to Boitalak making the long journey to Eorzea, hoping to share her love for food and unique cuisine with others.Her preferred style of cooking is Crescent Xaela cuisine, but she is proficient in all of the culinary traditions of the Crescent, and can also manage Steppe Xaela and some Upland Doman cuisine.

  • Nomadic Chef - The Xaela of the Fanged Crescent are well-known as chefs, traveling across the region to cook in different restaurants. The life of a nomadic chef is not an easy one; work is hard, they can rarely settle down and get married or have children, they are often fired unceremoniously if business turns down, and a chef must raise enough money to retire on or work until they're physically unable to. Boitalak is no stranger to working in these conditions, hence her eagerness to move to Eorzea and escape that system. She's also eager to compare notes with other culinarians, especially those from Othard.

  • Stranger - Boitalak is a new immigrant, not speaking much Eorzean and experiencing a disconnect between the culture of her old and new homes. She has a not-so-silent distaste for a lot of Eorzean food, as well.

  • Hidden Hobby - From her lap jangles a beautiful sound. From her lips, a tale spun as beautiful as the most elaborate tapestry. Yet, she's coy. She'll defer, saying it must've been the wind you heard, or, if you catch her with her chadyghan in hand, she'll say she's a beginner, she's just okay.

  • Distant Lover - A repeating cycle is seen in those of Boitalak's status. Upon being hired as a chef, they think they'll be the one to break the mold, to hold a partner and a few kids while working their way up the culinary ladder. They all either burn out and find other work, or give up. In Boitalak's case, it was the latter, having given up on finding love ten years ago. Instead, love found her. She'd bonded so hard with her that, even with an ocean between them, she still yearns for her touch. Perhaps you'd like to hear more, maybe lend a shoulder for her to cry on.

Hi! I'm Boitalak's writer. I'm about 30 years of age, gay, and a woman. I like to write. I try to mirror, but my preferred style is para or multi-para; I try to keep my posts more concise (around 1-2 full messages on first blush, bit more when we get to know each other). Sometimes I need to take a break and write a shorter post because of wrist pain.
